Hancock & Moore

Hancock & Moore is home to some of the finest craftsmen in the country who have come from a long line of furniture builders. Their skill is rare and has transformed Hancock & Moore into one of the most sought after manufacturers in the industry.

Only the finest materials are selected when crafting your furniture. After all, you need something that's going to last. The frame, most of which you will never see, is the foundation for each piece of furniture.

Hancock & Moore purchases wood from around the world, selecting only Grade A. Their frames are double-doweled and reinforced with corner blocks which are screwed into place. This guarantees that the joints will remain solid over time. Many of Hancock & Moore's frames are hand carved with detailed decor, sculpted from a solid block of wood, which is uncommon. Each frame is hand-sanded more than seven times to give it a silky touch.

Hancock & Moore is one of the last manufacturer's to require eight-way hand tied springs. It ensures a long lasting, comfortable seat. Their cushions are made of Qualux, a resilient material that retains its shape while remaining soft and comfortable. A piece of furniture from Hancock & Moore will be one in which you can relax and enjoy yourself.

Kingsley Bate

Kingsley Bate is America's leading manufacturer of teak outdoor furniture. British craftsmen of the 18th-century discovered what their Eastern counterparts had known for centuries, that teak has qualities unlike any other wood. Its abilities to withstand the rigors of adverse climate, yet weather attractively, make it the ideal choice for exterior furnishings. Kingsley Bate uses only premium quality teak and precise mortise and tenon joinery in the construction of our furniture. And while Kingsley Bate's reputation was founded on teak, thier furniture designs have expanded to incorporate the finest stainless steel and all-weather wicker as well. This combination of quality material and craftsmanship provides you with exterior furnishings of exceptional style and durability.

Kingsley Bate is committed to Environmental Responsibility. Preservation of the Earth's ecological system is today a major concern. Indiscriminate deforestation of the Amazon Basin and other rainforests has led to widespread suspicion by the public of those companies in the teak industry. Kingsley-Bate is the first American company to use Javanese teak in the manufacture of its furniture. Thier teak is harvested from carefully controlled plantations, established in Indonesia by the Dutch in the mid-19th century. The Indonesian government allows the felling of a limited number of trees each year, and ensures that an equal amount of reforestation takes place. In 1983 Kingsley-Bate, in conjunction with the Indonesian government and its people, undertook to develop a teak furniture program in Java. Since then, Indonesia and Kingsley-Bate have shown that such a program can be implemented without detriment to that country's natural resources. Due to the increasing demand for this beautiful hardwood, Kingsley-Bate now uses a select amount of Burmese teak in its productions. Whether Javanese or Burmese, you can be assured that Kingsley Bate uses only the finest quality teak in our furniture.

Palecek

More than 35 years ago Palecek began designing distinctive rattan and wicker items with one goal in mind, to create unique pieces of art from natural fibers. As the Palecek's traveled the world, they developed a network of master artisans, drawing inspiration from the indigenous peoples and their use of quickly renewable materials. Palecek's desire to mix an international palette of natural fibers into elegant furniture, lighting and accessories has made Palecek furniture and accesorries a trendsetter and pioneer in the use of fast-growing hardwoods, seagrass and rattan weaves. Their extensive line of award winning, handcrafted and eco-conscious designs are conceived in their domestic San Francisco Bay Area headquarters. It is here that Palecek master technicians upholster and finish your pieces, allowing Palecek to be your domestic design resource. As Palecek's Vice President, Andrew's passion for design and sophisticated style will continue the Palecek legacy, bringing distinctive designs to the market.

Palecek began as a basket company in the San Francisco Bay Area. The expertly woven baskets drew steady admirers, which grew into loyal customers, and an expanding product line. The Palecek family also grew, as Allan and his wife Nancy had two children, Andrew and Karey. The entire family is now involved with all aspects of the business, with Andrew and Allan acting as the key product design team.

Palecek's Eco-Commitment

Palecek believes that "green" is a process, not a destination. They acknowledge that ours is a resource-intensive industry that necessitates a balance of style and sustainability. As standards continue to evolve, the Paleceks consistently strive to use sources that are gentle on both the environment and the people who work within it. That's why the Palecek woods are largely plantation grown, and they use abundant, quickly renewable materials like rattan, abaca, and seagrass. Palecek also rely on water-based finishes in our line of paintable furniture, making them safer for your family, and our employees. The concern for the environment extends beyond the products they manufacture and into how they conduct business. Palecek offices, showrooms, and warehouses all reflect our growing commitment to the "green process," as the Palecek's implement more ways to conserve energy and resources, recycle materials, and educate customers on the steps they are taking so that they are inspired to do the same.
