Palecek began as a basket company in the San Francisco Bay Area. The expertly woven baskets drew steady admirers, which grew into loyal customers, and an expanding product line. The Palecek family also grew, as Allan and his wife Nancy had two children, Andrew and Karey. The entire family is now involved with all aspects of the business, with Andrew and Allan acting as the key product design team.
Palecek's Eco-Commitment
Palecek believes that "green" is a process, not a destination. They acknowledge that ours is a resource-intensive industry that necessitates a balance of style and sustainability. As standards continue to evolve, the Paleceks consistently strive to use sources that are gentle on both the environment and the people who work within it. That's why the Palecek woods are largely plantation grown, and they use abundant, quickly renewable materials like rattan, abaca, and seagrass. Palecek also rely on water-based finishes in our line of paintable furniture, making them safer for your family, and our employees. The concern for the environment extends beyond the products they manufacture and into how they conduct business. Palecek offices, showrooms, and warehouses all reflect our growing commitment to the "green process," as the Palecek's implement more ways to conserve energy and resources, recycle materials, and educate customers on the steps they are taking so that they are inspired to do the same.
